    Recipe Introduction

    Found on an old recipe card.

    List of Ingredients

    4 C flour
    6 T + 2 tsp baking powder
    scant tsp salt
    1 C brown sugar
    1/4 C + 1 T butter
    1/4 C + 1 T shortening
    1/2 C currants
    2 eggs
    sweet milk enough to make a soft dough.

    Recipe

    Sift together the flour, baking powder and salt. Add the brown sugar. Cut in the butter and shortening. Add eggs, currants and milk. Roll out to 3/4 inch thick and cut as for biscuits. Cook on a greased griddle for 3 minutes on each side.

    Note;
    She would use sour cream or buttermilk, adding a little baking soda to make these stay fresh longer. No shortening needed this way.
    I never had her actual measures. Bake at 400 degrees F.
