    Bars, Chocolate Refreshers

    List of Ingredients

    1 1/4 C all-purpose flour
    3/4 tsp baking soda
    1/2 tsp salt
    1 1/4 C whole dates
    3/4 C firmly packed brown sugar
    1/2 C water
    1/2 C butter
    1 6 oz package semisweet chocolate chips
    2 eggs
    1/2 C orange juice
    1/2 C milk
    1 C chopped walnuts

    Orange Glaze;
    1 1/2 C powdered sugar
    2 T butter, softened
    1-2 tsp grated orange zest
    2-3 T half and half or whipping cream

    Recipe

    Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 15x10x1 inch baking pan.
    Sift dry ingredients together and set aside .In a large pan combine dates, brown sugar, water and butter. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly until dates are soft. Remove from heat, stir in chocolate chips. Beat in eggs. Add dry ingredients alternately with orange juice and milk. Blend thoroughly. Stir in walnuts. Spread in prepared pan and bake 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Cool and frost.
    Glaze;
    Mix powdered sugar, butter and zest. Add half and half to desired consistency.
