    List of Ingredients

    1/2 C butter, softened
    1/4 C brown sugar
    2 egg whites
    1/2 tsp vanilla
    1 T water
    1 1/2 C whole wheat flour
    1/4 C sesame seeds
    1/2 tsp nutmeg

    Fig Filling
    12 figs
    1 peach, peeled
    3/4 cups brown sugar
    zest from 1 orange
    1/2 teaspoon brandy
    1/2 teaspoon nutmeg

    Recipe

Cut the figs and peach into very small pieces and place in a saucepan with all the other ingredients. Heat over low heat at first until the sugar dissolves in the juices of the fruit, then heat over medium heat, at a low boil, until the mixture is thick and jam-like. It will thicken as it cools.

When you are ready, divide the dough in half and roll each half into a large square. cut each square into thirds, so you have six long rectangles. Put the fig filling down the middle of each rectangle in a strip and then fold the sides up over the top, just overlapping in the middle. Place them on a greased cookie sheet, seam side down. Bake for 10 to 15 minutes at 350 degrees.
Chill for 2 hours and cut into sections.
