    Skamokawa Baked Chocolate Float

    Recipe Introduction


    Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
    In a small bowl, mix 2/3 C firmly packed brown sugar and 1/4 C ground chocolate. Set aside while preparing cake batter.

    Sift together ;
    1 1/4 C sifted flour
    3/4 C sugar
    2 tsp baking powder
    1/2 tsp salt.
    Add;
    3/4 C milk
    2 T melted butter
    1 tsp vanilla
    1/2 C chopped nuts
    Stir vigorously to blend all batter ingredients. Pour into a buttered 4x10x3 inch baking dish.
    Sprinkle the brown sugar mixture evenly over it. Very carefully pour in 1 1/2 C boiling water, Do not stir.
    Place immediately into oven and bake 45-50 minutes, until cake part is done. The cake will rise to the top and form a crusty topping over a chocolate sauce. Serve warm. Whipped cream over top if desired.
