    Broad leaf and narrow leaf. Also rattlesnake plantain.

    List of Ingredients




    Leaves eaten raw or boiled 5 minutes, young leaves eaten raw in spring.
    Seeds, winnow and grind into flour, or cook like rice. (psyllum)
    Use for burns, insect bites, rash and sores.




    Cowlitz and Klallam. (Rattlesnake plantain).

    Recipe



    Use leaves in soup, or as stuffed cabbage. Bake at 250 degrees for 20-30 minutes.
    Herb tea.
    For cold and flu. Use 1 tablespoon dry or fresh whole plantain to 1 cup water. Steep 10 minutes. Strain and sweeten.

    For burns, etc....use 1 pound whole plant, chopped and cook in lard on low heat till mushy and green. Strain while hot and use for burns, bites, rash and sores.
