    German Obstkuchen-(coffee cake)

    Recipe Introduction

    Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.

    List of Ingredients

    1 C butter
    1 C sugar
    1 tsp vanilla
    1 egg
    pinch salt
    3 C flour
    4 tsp baking powder
    1/2 C milk
    1 C fresh fruit

    Topping;
    1 C flour
    1 C sugar
    1/2 C butter
    1 tsp cinnamon
    1/2 tsp vanilla

    Recipe

    Beat butter until foamy. Add eggs and sugar.
    Combine dry ingredients and add, alternately with the milk. Dough should be fairly stiff. Spread into a greased and floured 9x13 pan. Top with any fruit that is compatible with the cinnamon.
    crumble topping ingredients. Spread over entire cake. Chopped almonds (or other nuts) may be sprinkled over if desired.
    Bake for half an hour, or until topping starts to brown. Make a simple glaze of powdered sugar and hot water, fairly thick, and drizzle over cake.
