    Measuring solid fats or butter

    Source of Recipe

    A little of every where.
if you need 1/4 cup fat, put 1/4 cup very cold water in a measuring cup and add the fat until the level of water reaches the 1/2 cup mark. If the recipe calls for 1/4 cup milk use the milk in place of water. (or if it calls for 1/2 cup, 3/4 cup etc ....of liquid (milk), measure to the line desired with the fat in the cup.)No fat should be floating above the liquid, if it does, push it down into the liquid to measure.
This is handy for when you are spooning shortening from the can or you have a full pound of butter with no measure marks on the paper wrapper.
