Sift into a bowl 2-1/2 cups sifted cake flour
4 tsp. baking powder
1-2/3 cups sugar
1 tsp. salt.
Add:
1/2 cup shortening
1 tsp. Vanilla
Pour in a little over half of 1-1/4 cups milk. Beat with a spoon 2 min. by the clock - about 150 strokes per min. or use electric mixer on medium speed 2 min. Add remaining milk and 5 unbeaten yolks. Beat 2 more min. Pour into two round 9-in. tins. Bake in preheated oven at 350, 25 to 35 min.
