List of Ingredients
4 eggs, separated
2 egg whites
1 1/4 C sugar
1/4 C butter
1/2 C cream, whipped
1/2 tsp cardamom
1/2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp cream of tartar
4 C flour
Recipe
Beat the 6 egg whites quite stiff. Add yolk 1 at a time, beating after each addition. Add sugar gradually with butter, whipped cream and cardamom.
Add baking soda and cream of tartar to flour. Sift into mixture, Chill 2-3 hours or overnight. Roll in long strips to pencil thickness. Cut in 5 inch lengths roll in a circle and press ends together with a light push of a finger. Fry in deep fat 365 degrees F. or hotter. Turn several times during cooking to ensure even cooking.
Var; 1 shot of whiskey or cognac may be added to dough.
