    NORWEGIAN MARSEPAN PASTRY

    List of Ingredients




    1 cup butter
    3/4 cup sugar
    2 eggs
    3 tbls. milk
    1 tsp. almond flavoring
    2 tsp. baking powder
    Filling:
    2 cups almond paste
    1 tsp. lemon juice
    2-3/4 cups flour
    3/4 cup sugar
    Other fruit such as prunes, preserves or jellies may be used for filling. .

    Cream butter and sugar, add eggs and milk and mix well. Roll dough in long strips on a buttered cookie sheet with a spoon. Make a dent in the center of a long strip. Spread filling. Prepare a pie crust dough and be sure to use butter instead of shortening. Roll out thin and cut into narrow strips with pastry cutter. Make a latticework pattern with strip and of crust and place over cookies. Bake 20 min. in 350 degree oven. Cut into bars while warm. Makes a large quantity of pastry. Lots of work, but different and very good.
