    GEORGE WHITE SERVICE CENTER DILL PICKLES

    List of Ingredients

    cucumbers, for 1 gallon of pickles
    1 quart water
    1/2 cup salt
    1 pint vinegar
    2 large heads of dill
    1 small red pepper pod
    2 cloves of garlic
    Grape or horseradish leaves

    Recipe

    Combine all ingredients and bring to boil. Remove from heat and cool slightly. Pour over fresh washed cucum­bers packed in jars. To each quart jar add 2 large heads of dill, broken and scattered through the jar, 1 small red pepper pod and 2 cloves of garlic. Cover top of each jar with grape or horseradish leaves. Seal at once. These are ready to use in 6 or 8 weeks. This is sufficient liquid for 1 gallon of pickles.
