    Take a whole codling, haddock or pike and clean and scale it. making as small an opening as possible, gut the fish and clean.
    Mix 2 heaped tablespoon of cooked rice and half a dozen cooked, chopped prunes with a pinch of salt. Stuff this into the fish and sew up opening. Place the fish in a baking dish, put some dabs of butter on top and pour over it a cupful of milk bake in a moderate oven for 45 minutes.
