    Clean tongue thoroughly. Place in a kettle of cold water. Add salt and cook slowly until done. Leave in liquid until cold. Take out and remove fibrous part and skin. Chop fine, season with salt, pepper and ground cloves. Mix well and put into a mold. Boil liquid down to 2 cupfuls and add 1/2 cup of vinegar. Pour while hot over the meat. Put in cool place for several hours. Serve cold sliced thin. [makes excellent sandwiches]
