    1 C shortening (part butter)
    2 C brown sugar
    2 eggs
    2 tsp cinnamon
    1 tsp clove
    1 tsp nutmeg
    1 tsp salt
    2 tsp soda
    1 C chopped nuts
    1 C chopped dates
    3 T cream
    4 1/2 C flour

    Recipe



    Cream sugar and shortening. Add slightly beaten eggs. Combine with rest of ingredients. Form into a loaf and let stand in cold place for several hours. Slice thin and bake in moderate oven.
