    Peel some apples, leaving them whole and take out the cores without cutting right through the apples. Fill the holes with treacle or golden syrup. place the apples in a greased pie-dish, put a knob of butter on each one and bake until the apples are tender but still whole. Cool and sprinkle with sugar before serving.
