    Jelly Tarts

When we were little my Grandmother used to bring us jelly tart cookies from a bakery near her home. The bakery has since closed down. After trying several recipes, these cookies are pretty close to what Grandma used to get for us.
My younger brother particularly likes these and asks me to make them for him every Christmas.

    List of Ingredients

    • 2 1/2 Cups Flour
    • 1/4 tsp Baking Powder
    • 1/2 tsp salt
    • 1 Cup Crisco
    • 2 tsp vanilla
    • 1/2 cup sifted confectioner sugar
    • 4 - 6 Tbsp Milk

    Instructions

    1. Sift flour, Baking soda and salt. Mix Crisco, sugar and vanilla til light and fluffy. Mix in flour mixture and the milk alternatly. Refrigerate until easy to handle.
    2. Preheat oven to 350.
    3. On lightly floured surface roll dough 1/4 inch thick.
Cut into rounds, Cut a circle into the center of 1/2
of the rounds (These will be the tops)
    4. Place 1 inch apart on a ungreased cookie sheet.
      Brush with milk.
