The classic Cuban rum cocktail!
List of Ingredients
1-1/4 cups sugar
1-1/4 cups water
2 cups lime juice (from 12 limes)
2 cups rum
1 cup fresh mint leaves
Ice cubes
Garnish: fresh mint sprigs
Recipe
Heat sugar and water in a medium saucepan over high heat until sugar is completely dissolved. Pour into a container and cool in the refrigerator 30 minutes. When ready to make drinks, combine sugar syrup, lime juice, and rum in a pitcher. Add mint leaves and crush with a wooden spoon 30 seconds. Add ice as desired. Garnish and serve. Yield: about 6 cups
