BROWNIES: Apple Brownies

Recipe Introduction

This is also good with pears.

List of Ingredients

1/2 cup butter or margarine, *see Note
1/4 tsp salt
1 egg, beaten
3/4 cup sugar
2 medium apples, pared & diced
1/4 cup applesauce
1/4 cup craisins, or dried cherries
1/2 cup chopped pecans, optional
1 cup flour
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp apple pie spice mix


Recipe

Cream margarine & salt. Add egg & sugar. Beat well. Stir in apples, craisins, & nuts, then dry ingredients. Blend well. Pour into an 8" sq pan. Bake in a preheat 350° oven 30 - 40 minutes. Cool on wire rack & cut into 16 squares.


Notes:
I use a little less with the applesauce in it - about 1/4 cup
