Cherry Pecan Bars

1 1/4 c flour, divided
1/4 c powdered sugar
1/2 c cold butter, cut into small pieces
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
3/4 c sugar
2 eggs, lightly beaten
1/2 c maraschino cherries, finely chopped
1/2 c coconut
1/2 c pecans, chopped
Recipe
Preheat oven to 350°. Sift together 1 cup flour w/ powdered sugar. Cut in butter until mixture reaches consistency of coarse meal. Press mixture firmly into the bottom of an ungreased 11x7" or 9x9" pan. Bake at 350° for 10 minutes. Remove from oven. While first layer bakes, sift together 1/4 cup of flour, baking powder, salt & sugar. Add eggs & mix well. Fold in maraschino cherries, coconut & pecans. Spread mixture over partially
baked first layer. Return pan to oven & bake at 350° for 30 to 40 minutes. Cool. Cut into 36 bars or squares.
