    List of Ingredients




    1 pound beef, thinly sliced and tenderized *see note
    2 teaspoons canola oil
    1/2 cup thinly sliced onion
    1 clove minced garlic
    1 teaspoon fresh ginger, peeled and minced
    2 bunches fresh watercress, rinsed and cut into v
    1/4 cup soy sauce
    1/4 cup oyster sauce
    1 block firm tofu, drained and cut into 1" cubes (optional)
    freshly ground black pepper, to taste

    Heat oil in a pot on med-high heat and add beef. Stir fry until meat is partially cooked. Add onion, garlic, and ginger. Stir fry for a minute. Add watercress, soy sauce, and oyster sauce. Lower heat and cook until watercress becomes wilted, then add tofu. Heat through and season with pepper. Serve with steamed rice.

    Dana Notes: * To tenderize beef, place 1 tablespoon of baking soda and enough water in a ziplock bag to cover meat pieces. Seal and keep in refrigerator for a few hours or overnight. When ready to cook, drain liquid from bag and rinse meat a few times. This is a trick I learned from the owner of a Chinese restaurant and it works like a charm.
