    List of Ingredients




    1 envelope Onion Soup Mix
    2 pounds ground beef
    3/4 cup bread crumbs, plain
    2 eggs
    3/4 cup water
    1/3 cup ketchup

    Topping (see directions), optional

    Recipe



    Preheat oven to 350°. In large bowl, combine all ingredients. In 13x9" baking or roasting pan, shape into loaf. (spread topping over if desired) Bake uncovered 1 hour or until done. Let stand 10 minutes before serving. Serves 8

    I top my meat loaf with the following (from Mr Food's Down-home Meat Loaf recipe)

    1/4 cup ketchup
    3 tablespoons light brown sugar
    1 teaspoon dry mustard
    1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

    In a small bowl, combine above ingredients and spread over the top of the meat mixture.


    Notes:
    *Substitution: Use 1-1/2 cups fresh bread crumbs or 5 slices fresh bread, cubed.

    CROCKPOT: In crockpot, arrange meatloaf. Cook covered on LOW 6 to 8 hours or HIGH 4 hours.
    HELPFUL HINT...Place meatloaf on a piece of cheesecloth, then on a rack to help hold meatloaf together while lifting in and out of crockpot.
