QUICK BREAD: Butter-Pecan Bread

2 1/4 cups sifted enriched flour
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup chopped pecans
1 slightly beaten egg
1 cup buttermilk
2 tbsp butter or margarine melted
Recipe
Sift together the flour, baking powder, soda, salt, and spices; stir in sugar and pecans. Combine egg, buttermilk, and butter; add to dry ingredients, stirring just until moistened. Pour into greased 9 1/2 x 5 x 3-inch loaf pan. Bake in moderate oven (350 ºF) 45 minutes or till done. Cool slightly before removing from the pan. Sandwich thin slices of Butter Pecan Bread with softened cream cheese and orange marmalade. Serve with fruit salad.
