    List of Ingredients




    1 2/3 cups sifted flour
    1/4 tsp baking powder
    1 tsp baking soda
    1/8 tsp salt
    1/2 tsp cinnamon
    1 cup pumpkin, canned, or cooked & mashed fresh
    1/2 cup chopped nuts
    1/2 tsp nutmeg
    1/3 cup shortening
    1 1/3 cups sugar
    1/2 tsp vanilla
    2 eggs
    1/3 cup sherry

    Recipe



    Sift together flour, baking powder, soda, salt cinnamon and nutmeg. Cream together shortening, sugar and vanilla. Add eggs one at a time and beat well after each. Stir in pumpkin. Add dry ingredients alternately with sherry and blend well. Stir in nuts. Turn into a greased 9x5" loaf pan and bake at 350° for 1 hour or until cake tester comes out clean. Turn out on a wire rack to cool. Wrap and refrigerate until ready to slice. Makes 1 loaf.
