Recipe Introduction
This recipe comes from a very nice lady I met on the WFD Board on AOL
List of Ingredients
5 cups bread flour, *see Note
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cardamom (this makes the bread)
2 eggs, at room temperature and beaten
2 cups milk, scalded
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup shortening
2 packages yeast, mixed with 1 tsp sugar and 1/3 cup
warm water
Recipe
Mix all in a large bowl. Knead briefly on floured board until satiny. Return to greased bowl to rise (covered) about 45 minutes to 1 hour. Pour onto floured board. I divide mine into 3 parts. Roll each piece out into a rectangle. Brush with melted butter, sugar, and cinnamon. Don't overdo the butter so it doesn't run out. Place on greased cookie sheets and let rise again. Bake at 400° for about 18-20 minutes. Brush with melted butter when it comes out of the oven. You won't have to call the family at this point. They will be hanging around like vultures waiting!!
Kay Notes...........I use about 3/4 cup of whole wheat and the remainder bread flour
