    Crockpot Smothered Steak

    Source of Recipe

    Lynda McCormick

    Recipe Introduction

This is a FAVORITE recipe of mine ........one I like to prepare when we have weekend guests ........you can just make rice in your rice cooker, a loaf of bread in your ABM & your hands and time are free to entertain! This recipe also earned me a spot in Gooseberry Patch's Hometown Favorites Cookbook

    List of Ingredients

1 1/2 pounds round steak, or chuck steak, trimmed of all fat and cut into strips *see Notes
    1/3 cup flour
    1 tsp garlic salt
1/2 tsp black pepper, coarsely ground
    1 large onion, sliced
    1 green peppers, sliced (1 to 2)
1 can sliced mushrooms (4 oz) drained
4 tbsp soy sauce, low sodium, or teriyaki sauce
1 package French-style green beans (10 oz) frozen

    Recipe

Mix flour, salt and pepper and toss with steak strips, then add to crockpot. Add remaining ingredients (layer like) to crock. Cover and cook on HIGH for 1 hour and then turn to LOW for 8 hrs (or can be cooked all on HIGH for 5 hrs). Serve over hot steamed white rice. Serves 6.

    Notes:
This is a great recipe to double (use a 12 oz can of mushrooms when doing so). It will completely fill a 6 qt crockpot if doubling OR a 3 1/2 qt if making a single (your lid will touch the green beans), but don't worry about it over flowing it will greatly reduce in size!

    *Partially freeze for easier cutting
