Quick Carne Guisada

List of Ingredients
2 pounds stew meat
1 package gravy, dry mix, brown
vegetable oil, for braising meat
1 large green pepper, chopped
1 large onion, minced
picante sauce, small amount
1/2 teaspoon garlic
1/2 teaspoon chili powder
1/2 teaspoon cumin (comino)
1/2 cup tomato sauce (8 oz can)
1 cup water
salt and pepper, to tasteRecipe
Brown meat, green pepper and onion in a small amount of oil. Add brown gravy mix and seasonings. Add tomato sauce and 1 cup water. Simmer until tender, 1-2 hours. Check constantly and add water if necessary.
CROCKPOT: After browning meat, green pepper and onion in oil, place in crockpot. Add gravy mix, seasonings, tomato sauce and water. Cook on high for about 6 hours, adding water when necessary.
NOTES:
To make BEEF, AVOCADO & CHEESE PATOS: Shred carne guisada in food processor. Serve on warm flour tortillas with shredded cheese and guacamole. (this is Jennifer served them)
Jennifer also notes: I did not need to shred in food processor, the meat was so tender after cooking all day, just stirring with a wooden spoon broke the meat all up
