    List of Ingredients




    3 pounds spareribs
    salt and pepper, to taste
    water, as needed
    1 quart sauerkraut
    1/4 cup onion, diced, peeled and sliced thinly apple
    3 tablespoons brown sugar, optional

    Recipe



    Season the meat, then brown slowly in a heavy skillet. Add water to a depth of 1/2 to 1". Cover and cook slowly one hour. Spread sauerkraut over pork. Sprinkle with brown sugar and onion and apple if desired. Cover and cook slowly one more hour.
