    Buy a boneless rump roast. Rub outside down with cooking oil and a little salt and pepper, or Italian dressing, bottled or a dry mix rubbed on to the oil.

    Recipe

    Put in preheated 500° oven and cook for 10 mins. Reduce heat to 350°, and cook 20 minutes per pound if fatty and 15 minutes per pound if it's a lean roast. Let stand 10 minutes before slicing very thin. This should give you your rare roast beef.
