    List of Ingredients

1/2 cup honey (I like to use orange blossom)

    3/4 cup water

    1/2 lemon (remove before pouring)

1 1/2 cups chopped nuts (mixture of walnuts,
almonds & pistachios, or just one kind)

    2 tbsp. sugar

    1 tsp. cinnamon

    1/8 tsp. cloves

    1 cup sweet butter, melted

    24 sheets phyllo

    Recipe

Simmer honey, water & lemon until it is thick enough to coat the back of a spoon. Let cool.

Combine nuts, sugar, cinnamon & cloves to make filling.

Layer 12 sheets of phyllo on an 11x15-inch buttered baking pan, brushing each sheet with melted butter - will use about half the butter. Spread filling on top and cover with remaining phyllo - again, brushing each sheet with butter.

Cut the top layered sheets and filling diagonally into 2-in. long diamonds, but leave the bottom few layers of sheets uncut.

Bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for 30 minutes. Then raise the oven temperature to 475 degrees and bake about 15 min. longer, or until golden brown.

Remove from oven and pour reserved syrup over the top. Cut, following the same cuts as before, but this time cut all the way through the second layer.

Allow to cool completely & absorb all the syrup. I like to sprinkle a few chopped nuts over the top after I have poured the syrup over it.
