    Ham-flavored Brunswick Stew

    List of Ingredients

    3 pounds chicken, cut up
    3 quarts water
    1 large onion, sliced
    1/2 pound cooked ham cut in small pieces or 1 hambone from a baked Country ham
    3 pints tomatoes
    1 pint butterbeans
    4 large potatoes, diced
    1 pint corn
    salt to taste
    1/4 teaspoon pepper
    1 tablespoon chopped parsley
    2 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
    2 teaspoons sugar (optional)
    1 tablespoon poultry seasoning


    Recipe

    In a large pan, put chicken, water, onion, and ham. Simmer for 2 hours.

    Add tomatoes, butterbeans, potatoes, corn, salt, pepper, parsley, Worcestershire sauce, sugar and poultry seasoning.

    Cover and simmer 2 more hours.

    Serves 10
