    List of Ingredients




    1/2 c yellow cornmeal
    2 T. Shortening (crisco)
    1/2 c molassas
    2 tsp salt
    2 c boiling water
    2 pkg yeast (I use 2 T.)
    5 to 6 c all purpose flour

    Recipe



    Place cornmeal, shortening, molasses & salt in bowl. Add boiling water and stir until shortening melts. Let cool till luke warm temp. Add yeast (now I always, proof my yeast 1st w/bit of sugar...don't care what recipe says..this works for me) and 2 c flour. Beat vigorously till well blended. Add enough flour to make a soft dough. Let rise till doubled. Turn dough onto floured surface and knead till dough is smooth & satiney. Put into 2 greased loaf pans. Let rise till doubled. Brush with melted butter when done baking. Bake at 375 for 30 to 35 min.
