Cream shortening; gradually add sugar, beating well. Add egg and milk; beat well. 2. Combine flour, soda, salt and spices; add to creamed mixture, mixing well. Stir in the raisins, pecans and apple. 3. Drop dough by rounded teaspoonfuls, 1-1/2 inches apart, onto greased cookie sheets. Bake at 400 degrees F. for 12 to 15 minutes. 4. Meanwhile, make frosting. In a small bowl, combine 1-1/2 cups sifted powdered sugar, 1/8 teaspoon salt, 2-1/2 tablespoons milk, 1 tablespoon melted butter and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract. Beat until smooth. 5. Cool cookies on a wire rack. Frost with vanilla frosting. Yields 4-1/2 dozen cookies
