    6 slices day-old bread, cut into 1/2-inch cubes

    1 cup hot water

    1 cup packed brown sugar

    4 eggs, lightly beaten

    2 cups warm milk

    1/2 cup sugar

    1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

    1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

    1/8 teaspoon salt

    Recipe



    1. Place bread in a greased 2-quart baking dish.

    2. Combine water and brown sugar; pour over bread.

    3. Combine remaining ingredients; pour over bread.

    4. Bake at 350 degrees F. for 50 to 60 minutes or until a knife inserted near the center comes out clean. Serve warm or cold.

    6 to 8 servings
