1. Heat oil in skillet; brown chops on both sides. Remove and add a little more oil if needed. Sauté garlic for 1 minute.
2. In a small bowl, combine oil, broth, soy sauce, and brown sugar.
3. Return chops to skillet; pour sauce over the chops. Cover tightly and simmer over low heat for 30 to 35 minutes. (Add 1 to 2 tablespoons water if needed and turn once.)
4. Remove chops; keep warm. Stir in cornstarch dissolved in the water. Cook until thickened. Serve sauce over the chops.
