Steamed Brown Bread

1 cup flour
1 cup cornmeal
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 cups buttermilk
1/3 cup dark molasses
1/3 cup raisins
Pour two inches of water into a deep kettle. Grease a 1-pound steamed- pudding mold.
In a large mixing bowl, stir the flour cornmeal, baking soda and salt until blended. Add the buttermilk, molasses and raisins. Mix until blended. Spoon the batter into the prepared pan. Cover tightly with foil.
Steam for 2 hours or until loaf tests done.
Makes 1) 1 pound loaf.
