    Chicken A La King


    1 slice bacon -- diced
    1/4 cup onion -- finely chopped
    2 ounces mushroom stems and pieces -- reserve 1/4 cup liq
    1/4 cup bell pepper -- chopped
    1 tablespoon margarine
    1/4 cup flour
    1 teaspoon salt
    1/4 teaspoon pepper
    1 cup half and half
    2/3 cup chicken broth
    1 cup cooked chicken -- diced
    1 tablespoon pimiento
    1 package puff pastry shells

    In a large saucepan, cook and stir bacon, onion, mushrooms and bell pepper in margarine over medium heat until vegetables are tender. Blend in flour, salt and pepper. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly until well mixed. Remove from heat. Stir in half and half, chicken broth and reserved mushroom liquid. Heat to a boil, stirring constantly for 1 minute. Stir in chicken and pimientos. Allow chicken mixtur eto cool, put in a 1-gallon bag and freeze. To prepare for serving, thaw pattey shells and chicken sauce. Heat sauce in large saucepan until bubbly, stirring constantly. Serve in warmed patty shells. Serves 4.
