    List of Ingredients




    Steak Patties
    1 cup flour
    salt and pepper -- to taste
    1 teaspoon onion powder
    1 pound ground beef
    2 cloves garlic -- crushed and chopped
    1 egg -- lightly beaten
    1/2 cup milk
    cracker meal -- or cracker crumbs
    vegetable oil for frying
    White Gravy
    2 tablespoons meat drippings -- up to 4 tablespoons total
    4 tablespoons flour
    2 cups milk
    salt and pepper -- to taste

    Steak Patties: Put some flour in a bowl with salt, pepper and onion powder in a bowl. Put cracker crumbs in another bowl. Stir garlic into ground beef, form into patties and smash flat. Combine milk and egg in a bowl. Dip each patty into flour, then into the egg/milk mixture and then into cracker crumbs. Fry in hot oil until golden brown on each side. Serve with white gravy.

    White Gravy: After frying the Chicken-Fried Steak leave 2 to 4 tablespoons meat dripping and crumbs in the pan. Add the flour quickly, stirring constantly until all the crumbs are loosened and mixture is thick. Then add milk and boil until thickened. Add more or less milk depending on the consistency you like. Season to taste with salt and pepper and pour over Chicken-Fried Steak.
