Stuffed Cabbage (Golumpki)

bake at 350 for 1 and 1/2 hours
List of Ingredients
- 1 large head of cabbage
- 3 large onions, chopped
- 1/2 lb bacon, diced and fried crisp
- 2 lbs ground beef
- 3 cups uncooked white rice
- 1 large can tomato puree or crushed tomatoes
Instructions
- saute chopped onions in bacon grease
- cook rice per package directions
- drain rice and mix with sauteed onions, fried bacon and bacon grease
- Mix uncooked ground beef with above mixture
- core cabbage and boil until leaves loosen, OR you may core and put the entire head of cabbage into the microwave for a few minutes at a time and remove leaves as they loosen
- line deep baking pan with broken and unusable leaves of cabbage
- put a large spoonful of mixture into each leaf and fold sides over and roll
- when pan is full our tomato puree or crushed tomatoes over the top
- cover with foil and bake
