Basic Trail Food
List of Ingredients
3 cups oatmeal or wheat
3 tablespoons honey
1/2 package flavored gelatin
1 1/2 cups powdered milk
1 cup white or brown sugar
Recipe
Mix all dry ingredients except gelatin. Add 3 tablespoons water to honey
and bring to a boil. Dissolve gelatin in honey mixture. Add mixture to dry
ingredients in large bowl. After mixing, add water, a teaspoon at a time,
until the mixture is moist enough to mold. Pack in refrigerator dish.
For taste variations- add dried apricots, raisins, dates or peanut
butter. May be molded and shaped on to aluminum foil. May be frozen.
