    2 medium onions, chopped
    1 bell pepper, chopped
    2 cloves garlic, chopped
    4 tablespoons butter
    1 1/2 pounds ground beef
    1 medium can tomatoes
    1 (6 ounces) can tomato paste
    1 1/2 teaspoons chili powder
    1 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce
    salt and pepper, to taste
    1 small can mushrooms, drained
    1 (1 pound) box pasta of your preference
    1/2 pound cheddar cheese, grated
    1 can grated Parmesan cheese
    Sauté onions, bell pepper and garlic in butter. Add ground beef and cook until meat loses its pink color. Add tomatoes and tomato paste. Simmer on low heat until sauce thickens (1 hour or more) or simmer over very low heat for 3 to 4 hours. Thin wi th tomato juice, if needed. Add seasonings and mushrooms.

    Cook spaghetti in boiling, salted water according to package directions. Drain.

    Combine grated cheeses. Set aside.

    Place layer of cooked spaghetti in lightly greased casserole dish. Spread with sauce. Sprinkle with cheese mixture. Repeat layers until all ingredients are used, ending with cheese.

    Bake in a 350 degrees F. oven until bubbly.

    NOTE

    This freezes well.
