Chocolate Oat Squares a.k.a. PMS Bars

    Source of Recipe

    COOKIELADY

    1 C plus 2 Tbsp Butter or Margarine - softened & divided
    2 C Brw Sugar
    2 Eggs
    4 tsp Vanilla (divided)
    3 C quick Oats
    2 1/2 C Flour
    1 1/2 tsp Salt - divided
    1 tsp Bkg Soda
    1 can Swt Cond Milk
    2 C semi-swt Choc Chips
    1 C Walnuts - chopped

Cream 1 C butter & sugar. Beat in eggs & 2 tsp vanilla. Stir in flour, oats, 1 tsp salt, & bkg soda. Press 2/3 of mixture into a greased 15x10 pan (cookie sheet w/sides). In saucepan, melt on low the chips, milk, remaining salt & butter. Once melted stir in nuts. Spread over crust. Sprinkle with remaining oat mixture. Bake at 350 for 25 min or until golden brown. Cool before cutting and eating! Yield: 3 doz

Notes: I wouldn't change a single thing. Just wanted to let you know that the oat dough is rather sticky & doesn't really "sprinkle". It was more like blobbing & squishing it. Parts of the choc layer does show through.
