    My mother in law

    Recipe Introduction

My inlaws lived in Salina KS in the early 60's and at that time there was an Air Force Base located there. This was given to her by one of the wives whose husband was stationed there. She always said her best recipes came from the Air Force wives as they were from all areas of the country. I have put revisions in as this still called for sifting the flour, chopping chips before mini chips were available, and microwave instead of double boiler for the filling.

    List of Ingredients

    Cookie:
    1 1/2 cups flour
    1/2 teaspoon salt
    1/2 cup butter
    1/2 cup brown sugar
    1 teaspoon vanilla
    2 Tablespoons milk
    1/4 cup mini chips
    powdered sugar

    Filling:
    3/4 cup chocolate chips
    2 Tablespoons light corn syrup
    1 Tablespoon shortening
    1 Tablespoon water
    1 teaspoon vanilla

    Recipe

Cream butter and sugar. Add vanilla, milk and chips, blend well. Add flour and salt. Roll into small balls on ungreased cooking sheet. Make indentation with thumb or spoon. Bake at 375 for 10 to 12 minutes. Roll in powdered sugar and cool on wire rack.

Filling: Combine all ingredients and melt on low in microwave. Cool 5 minutes before pouring on to cookie.
