    Plaza III Steak Soup

    Source of Recipe

    my mother in law

    Recipe Introduction

This was a very popular soup from the Plaza III Restaurant in Kansas City in the 70's. Not sure if this was their exact recipe or not, but whoever gave it to my mother in law said it was.

    List of Ingredients

    1 stick butter
    1/2 cup flour
    4 - 10 ounce cans beef consomme
1/2 cup each diced carrots, celery and onions
    1 - 8 ounce can tomatoes, chopped
    1 1/2 teaspoons Kitchen Bouquet
    2 Beef bouillion cubes
    1/2 teaspoon pepper
    1 teaspoon Accent (MSG)
1 - 10 ounce package frozen mixed vegetables
1 pound ground beef, browned and drained

    Recipe

Place butter in soup pot. Melt, add flour and stir to form a smooth paste. Cook over medium heat 3 minutes stirring constantly. Add consomme, stir until smooth and thickened. Bring to a full rolling boil. Add fresh vegetables, tomatoes and seasonings. Regain boil, reduce heat, simmer 30 minutes. Add frozen vegetables and meat. Simmer 15 minutes more.
