    EZ FRENCH BREAD

    Source of Recipe

    Elaine Thomas

    List of Ingredients

    2 1/4 teaspoon yeast
    3 1/2 Cups flour
    1 teaspoon salt
    1 1/4 cup warm water

Mix in bread maker on dough setting, with a mixer, or by hand.

After rising, shape into rolls(makes about 12) or baguettes. Let rise and bake at 450 degrees for 15 minutes for rolls and 15 to 18 minutes for baguetts, but check after 15 minutes.

    Elaine's notes:

I shaped this amount of dough into 2 baguettes about 14 inches long. I have a baguette pan, and they were not as long as the pan, but they were as wide when baked.

Be sure to put an egg white wash on it before you bake it. Seems to add some crispness to the crust, as well as making very appealing.

1 egg white plus 1 tablespoon water.

Slash the dough with a razor blade crossways about 4 times, paint with wash, then bake.
