    ALMOND BUTTERMILK CAKE

    List of Ingredients




    1 C butter
    2 eggs
    2 C sugar
    1 tsp vanilla
    1 1/2 almond extract
    3 C plain flour
    1 tsp baking soda
    1 tsp salt
    2 C buttermilk

    Cream butter, eggs, sugar, vanilla and almond extract. Combine flour, soda and salt together and add to creamed mixture alternately with buttermilk, making sure it's well blended. Pour in a 9 x 13 inch pan, tube pan, or bundt pan (I used a bundt pan) and bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes. Cool and frost with Almond Glaze. Garnish with slivered almonds.

    Glaze:
    2tsp melted butter
    1 tsp almond extract
    2 C powdered sugar
    1 tsp milk(needs more-about 1 Tablespoon or more)

    Frost cooled cake and garnish with slivered almonds

    Note: I would think lemon juice instead of milk might be a nice touch in the frosting. Also you could use vanilla instead of almond extract or even orange.
