    MERINGUES


    List of Ingredients


    • 3 egg whites
    • 1 cup sugar
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla
    • 1 teaspoon vinegar


    Instructions


    1. Beat egg whites until stiff, adding sugar slowly. Add vanilla, then vinegar, beating all the while until very stiff.
    2. Plop a gob at a time (maybe 1/2 cup) on to a cookie sheet covered with wax paper. Cook for 1 hour in a very slow oven at 250 degrees. Remove from oven and let cool.
    3. Merangues will be hollow. Carefully cut in half, length wise and fill with ice cream, or fruit, or what ever filling you desire, and serve.
