    Recipe Introduction

Without a doubt "The Best" Apple Pie I have ever eaten!! Thank you for sharing this with me, Cindy!!

    List of Ingredients

6 large tart apples (Recommend Cortlands)
    2 tbl. flour
    1/2 c. sugar
    1/2 c. brown sugar
    3/4 tsp. cinnamon
    1/4 tsp. nutmeg
    1/8 tsp. ginger
    1/8 tsp. salt
    1 tbl. lemon juice
    3 tbl. butter or margarine
    1 unbaked 2-crust pie dough

    Recipe

Peel, core and slice apples. Cook** in a little bit of water until just beginning to be tender. Drain & cool. Fill 8"or 9" pastry lined pie pan with apples. Mix all other ingredients, except lemon juice and butter, in a bowl. Pour over apples. Sprinkle lemon juice and dot with pieces of butter. Put on top crust and vent.

Bake @ 450 degrees for 10 minutes, then reduce to 350 degrees for 45 minutes longer.

**By the time the crisp, fresh-picked apples of New England reach us down here in Florida, they are not so "crisp", so I only pre-cook them if the apples are ~very~ firm, otherwise they become too mushy.
