    Yeast, rolls- Fair Hill Rolls

    List of Ingredients

    2 packages active dry yeast
    1 teaspoon sugar
    1/4 cup warm water
    1 cup warm milk
    6 tablespoons vegetable oil
    1/2 cup sugar
    1 cup cold water
    2 teaspoons salt
    2 eggs, beaten
    6 to 7 cups flour

    Recipe

Dissolve yeast and 1 teaspoon sugar in warm water (105 to 155 degrees). Combine milk, oil, remaining sugar, cold water, salt and eggs. Stir in yeast mixture, add 6 cups of the flour. Mix well. Add more flour as needed. Turn dough out onto floured surface, kneading 5 to 10 minutes. Place in greased bowl, turning to grease top. Cover and let rise 60 minutes. Shape dough into hamburger-size discs. Place on greased jelly roll pan. Let rise 30 minutes. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes.

Jan shares one of her family's favorite bread recipes, which came from the Fair Hills Resort in Minnesota. Several years ago, Jan won a loose- meat sandwich contest sponsored by Tom and Roseanne Arnold to publicize their Iowa restaurant. The judges said it was these rolls that made Jan's entry a winner.
