Pear Walnut Squares

Cooking time: 35 to 40 minutes
1-3/4 cups all-purpose flour
3/4 cup powdered sugar
3/4 cup butter, softened (1-1/2 sticks; see note)
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon (divided)
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
3 ripe Bartlett pears, peeled, cored and sliced
3 eggs
1/3 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1-1/2 teaspoons vanilla
Recipe
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
In a medium bowl, combine flour, powdered sugar, butter,1/2 teaspoon cinnamon and salt; mix well. Press into the bottom of a greased 7-by-11-inch baking dish. Top with nuts and pear slices.
In the same mixing bowl, beat together eggs, brown sugar, vanilla and remaining 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon until well-combined; pour over pears.
Bake 35 to 40 minutes, or until set in the center. Cool completely before cutting into squares.
Note: Use real butter or stick margarine. Do not substitute reduced-fat spreads; their higher water content often yields less-satisfactory results.
