    Oriental Slaw

    Source of Recipe

First Christian Church of Beloit KS cookbook

    Recipe Introduction

This great cookbook was purchased while on vacation at a bookstore with lots of Church and community cookbooks for sale. I get lots of requests for this slaw when we have potlucks with my extended family, at work, or at Church.

    List of Ingredients

1 small head of cabbage, chopped
3 oz. salted sunflower seeds (SHELLED OF COURSE)
    2-3 Tablesp. cider vinegar
    2-3 Tablesp. granulated sugar
1 small package of slivered almonds
    3 green onions, chopped
1 packet of Chicken flavor ramen noodles
(crush the uncooked noodles and set aside, save the flavor packet)
    1/3 cup vegetable (canola) oil

    Recipe

In a large bowl combine cabbage, nuts and seeds and onions.
In a small bowl, wisk together the oil, sugar, vinegar, and the contents of the ramen noodle flavor packet.

Mix into cabbage mixture. Refrigerate at least 4-6 hours or overnight. Before serving, add noodles and stir well.

This keeps well, and tastes even better the next day if you are lucky enough to have left-overs.
